2015 Scholarship Recipients
Green Thumb Garden Club
From Fond du lac, Doniell Ericksen will be starting her Junior year at Lawrence University where she has been exploring the ecology of Door County and Jamaica and the natural remedies used in native cultures. Doniell's undergraduate work and research is to prepare her for a graduate program with a focus on how different cultures use the natural biochemical makeup of their native plants to treat diseases and why it is important to protect the biodiversity of the natural environment.
From St Cloud, Valerie Kramer will be starting her Junior year at UW-River Falls where she pursuing a major in Dairy Science and Agricultural Business. Valerie understands how good soil and crop management in the production of a dairy farm has an effect on both the quality of the herd, its milk quality, and the environment. Her mother passed on her love of gardening and Valerie plans to share her knowledge through 4H and FFA Alumni.
From St. Cloud, Matthew Kramer will be starting his Freshman year at UW River Falls where he will be pursuing a degree in Dairy Science. Matthew grew to love plants by taking care of the FFA Greenhouse at Campbellsport High School and Agriscience class. Matthew plans to give back to his community by being a mentor in the programs that helped him, including 4H and FFA.
From Markesan, Reid Jahns will be starting his Freshman year at Milwaukee School of Engineering where he will be pursuing a Environmental Engineering Degree. The challenges of math and science combined with a love of the outdoors and conservation make this a perfect fit for him. Matthew wants to use his knowledge to conserve and improve America's natural heritage.
