2017 Scholarship Recipients
Green Thumb Garden Club
From Markesan, Reid Jahns will be starting his Junior year at Milwaukee School of Engineering where he will be pursuing a Environmental Engineering Degree. Reid passionately believes in conserving and improving America's natural heritage. Environmental Engineering will allow him to do such things as design ponds that can settle out runoff pollutants, and protect human health by improving and protecting the natural environment. Reid is a previous Scholarship Recipient.
From Rosendale, Cayley Vande Berg, will be starting her Freshman year at UW-River Falls where she pursuing a degree in Dairy Science and Agriculture. The dietary needs of animals is especially interesting to Cayley as they reflect in the overall health and production of the animal. Working at the family produce stand has become a tradition along with the hard work that goes into raising the crops to sell. Cayley is a first time recipient of this scholarship.
From Fond du Lac, Dustin Schneider is a Senior at UW Stevens Point where he will be finishing a degree in Soil and Land Management and Resource Management, graduating in December. Dustin plans to put his degree to use by becoming a Golf Course Superintendent, where he will be responsible for preventing soil erosion and the many acres of grass, trees, shrubs, and plantings that make up a Golf Course. Dustin is a previous Scholarship Recipient.
From Eden, Marcus Birschbach will be transferring to UW Platteville after completing his Freshman year at UW Fond du Lac where he will pursue a degree in Agribusiness and Animal Science so that he can work in the Agricultural business. Marcus works the family farm and was has been very active in 4H, showing both pigs and dairy cows at the FDL County Fair and serving with the Teen Leader Association. Marcus is a first time recipient of this scholarship.
